Alacourt states that a search returning no matches still counts as a search. Case detail reports can include basic case data, status, parties, setting dates, financial history, court action, and a detailed case action summary.
Online access is only one channel. Circuit and District Court copies, certified records, older files, and items not shown online route to the Lowndes County Circuit Clerk. Probate cases, estates, wills, guardianships, land records, and marriage certificate recordings route to the Probate Office or Lowndes Probate Online Services. AlaPay can locate a traffic ticket or disposed criminal fine balance, but it does not replace the full court file. Start with a party name or exact case number, record the court division, and note whether the request needs certification.
- Identify the record type. Circuit and District civil, criminal, domestic, traffic, and small claims cases start with the Circuit Clerk. Probate and recorded documents start with the Probate Office.
- Open Alacourt ACCESS for a statewide trial court search. Choose a name search or case-number search and expect the stated paid-search charge.
- Use the exact case number when available. It is more precise than a name, especially when people share a name or a spelling has changed.
- Review the case status, parties, setting dates, action summary, and financial history. Request document images only when the report indicates that they are available.
- Call, mail, or visit the correct Lowndes County custodian for certified copies, files not online, or help confirming current copy and certification charges.
The official Circuit Clerk duties page says local court records are electronically imaged. That does not mean each image is free or open to every user. Alacourt lists document images at $5 for the first 20 pages and $0.50 for each later page. A name result can require extra review to distinguish people. A complete case number narrows the search to one filing. If neither route finds the file, confirm the division and spelling with the Lowndes County Circuit Clerk before paying for another search. Probate records do not use this Alacourt field set, so they must be searched through the separate Lowndes Probate service.
Lowndes County Court Record Types

Read the action summary in date order. A filed charge is not a conviction, and a scheduled setting is not a final disposition. A default entry can result when a civil defendant does not answer or appear. A continuance moves a setting to a later date. An appeal entry shows that review was requested, while the underlying judgment remains part of the history unless changed.
Lowndes County Court Records Access

Restricted Lowndes County Court Records
Juvenile legal and social files are not ordinary public case searches. Alabama Code Section 12-15-133 makes juvenile court records confidential except where the law permits access.
